Rhinoceros
As of right now, he doesn’t have a name
One of the remaining Megafauna (giant animals)
Herbivore
Their horns are made of Keratin (just like you hair and fingernails)
Of the 5 species, 3 have two horns (Black, White, Sumatran) and 2 have only one horn (Indian, Javan)
The Black, Javan, and Sumatran rhinoceros are CRITICALLY ENDANGERED (an extremely high risk of extinction in the wild) per the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
The word rhinoceros is from the Greek rhino (nose) and keras (horn)
Acceptable spelling for multiple animals is rhinoceros or rhinoceroses
Rhinoceroses have been on the earth for 20 million years (unless you believe in the 6,000 year conceptualization)
The Black rhino is actually grey and can be found at the Ft. Worth Zoo, The White rhino can be found at the Houston Zoo. The San Antonio Zoo has some rhinos, I think they are white, but I will have to check the next time I am there.
